Dr. Gordon grew up in the small communities of Colorado, where neighbors knew each other by name. That upbringing shaped the way he practices — unhurried, personal, and genuinely caring. He moved to Illinois in 1978, completed his undergraduate studies at Knox College in Galesburg, and earned his DMD from Southern Illinois School of Dental Medicine. He’s been part of this community ever since, and has been with Ahoyt Family Dental since 2009.
Dr. Gordon’s expertise goes well beyond a typical family dentist. He is an internationally recognized orthodontic educator who has served as both Secretary and President of the International Association for Orthodontics. He’s personally trained hundreds of dentists across the U.S., Canada, Australia, India, and the Philippines, and developed orthodontic diagnostic software that is used worldwide. For patients at Ahoyt Family Dental, that depth of experience translates directly into advanced Invisalign® treatment, esthetic dentistry, and a dentist who is always learning and growing.

Dr. Gordon takes the time to listen, explain, and make sure every patient feels comfortable before moving forward. He has a particular gift for putting kids and anxious adults at ease, which is probably why so many of his patients have been coming back for years and bringing their whole families along.
Outside the office, Dr. Gordon is a dad, a woodworker, a motorcycle enthusiast, and — on the right day — a unicyclist. His team affectionately calls him the office Grill Master, a title he has more than earned. He also gives back through charitable organizations and has a deep belief that a healthy smile can genuinely change a person’s life.
